SIP calculator: how much your monthly SIP can grow
Work out the future value of a monthly SIP in a mutual fund, with the amount you invest and the gains it could earn.
How it works
Future value = P × [((1 + i)^n − 1) ÷ i] × (1 + i), where P is the monthly amount, i is the monthly return (annual return ÷ 12) and n is the number of months. This assumes you invest at the start of each month.
Questions people ask
Is the return guaranteed?
No. Mutual fund returns depend on the market. The calculator shows what your money would grow to at a steady return, which real funds never deliver year to year.
What return should I assume?
Many planners use 10% to 12% a year for diversified equity funds over long periods and 6% to 7% for debt funds. Use a lower figure if you want a cautious estimate.
Does this include tax?
No. Gains on equity funds held over a year are taxed as long-term capital gains above the yearly exemption, and the calculator does not deduct this.
