HCLTech added 6,450 employees between July and September, after cutting 3,292 the quarter before. It hired 6,136 freshers, up from 1,056 in the June quarter.
Infosys added 4,480 and TCS 4,258. Wipro’s headcount fell by 6,716 to 2,36,328.
For April to September, the five largest IT companies added 16,055 people, against 3,097 a year earlier, according to Angel One’s analysis. Most of that swing comes from TCS, which had cut 14,665 jobs in the same period last year. Freshers made up 60% to 65% of net hiring.
Gaurav Vasu of UnearthInsights said the additions do not yet show a broad recovery in demand. Hiring for AI, cloud and cybersecurity skills grew about 16%, while overall IT hiring fell 3%.
Attrition ranged from 12.7% at Infosys to 13.8% at Wipro, though companies measure it differently.
